If an iOS device freezes, you can try to reboot it, by pressing the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time. However, even iOS devices are not immune to software failures, so you may find yourself with a frozen iPhone and unable to reboot it. In situations like this, you can use ReiBoot to snap your device back into shape. It can switch a connected device in and out of recovery mode, even if the device is stuck in recovery mode or in a rebooting loop.

ReiBoot can be installed like any other lightweight Mac OS X app. When launched, the application will present two options, on a compact user interface, for setting an iOS device to recovery mode and for exiting this mode. Obviously, your device has to be connected to your Mac, with a standard cable.

All you have to do is click the aforementioned buttons and your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch will react immediately. You can perform this operation in many situations. For example, it is a good way to bypass your passcode, if you forgot it. The application is also helpful if a device's Home or Sleep/Wake button is broken.

As previously suggested, ReiBoot provides support for Apple's iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It can interact with these devices via direct cable connection, regardless of their iOS version. Furthermore, the application is an excellent alternative to restoring a device with iTunes, because you won't lose any data.
